Cortinarius injucundus Fr. subgenus Telamonia Cap 4-8cm across, broadly convex; hygrophanous, red-brown when wet, pallid when dry, sometimes with a hint of violet; the edge matted with patches of white veil. Gills adnate; with violet tints at first, then redbrown. Stem 50-80 x 7-16mm, the base swollen; whitish or pale violet at the apex, with a copious white cortina. Flesh pallid with violet tints, especially when young. Odor not distinctive. Taste slight. Spores pip-shaped, rough, 10-11.2 x 5.5-6.5µ, quotient 1.75. Deposit rusty brown. Habitat under conifers. Found in Colorado and northeastern North America. Season August-October. Not edible. Comment Cortinarius mushrooms in this group are extremely difficult to name with any certainty, and much work is still to. be done before the position will become clearer. It is possible that Cortinarius rimosus Pk. is another name for this mushroom.
